New Officers Announced
The ABO installed its officers for 2017-18 on April
25, 2017, during the AAO Annual Session in San
Diego. The new officers are Dr. Chun-Hsi Chung
of Philadelphia, PA, president; Dr. Larry Tadlock of
Keller, TX, president-elect; and Dr. Nicholas Barone
of North Providence, RI, secretary-treasurer.
Dr. Steven Dugoni of South San Francisco, CA is
the immediate past-president. As previously
reported, the AAO House of Delegates elected me
to serve as an ABO director representing the PCSO.
Written Examination Update
The 2017 Written Examination was administered
April 4-7, 2017, to 391 examinees at Pearson-Vue
Testing Centers throughout the United States
and Canada. The reliability of the examination
was .92, with a 97% pass rate.
The next Written Examination will be offered
April 10-13, 2018. Eligible individuals may register
for this examination beginning September 18, 2017.
Clinical Examination Update
The next ABO Clinical Examination is scheduled
for September 2017, and registration is currently
open. Dates for 2018 have been identified and are
listed on the ABO website.
2017 ABO Educators Symposium
Please mark your calendars for the 2017 ABO
Educators Symposium to be held on Saturday,
November 18, 2017, in St. Louis, MO. A welcome
reception will be held on Friday, November 17.
This year's symposium, entitled "Intelligently
Adapting to Change," is in honor of Dr. Thomas
Cangialosi.
