PCSO Representation / AAOF BOD
I will complete my service on the AAO Foundation
Board of Directors upon the adjournment of the
2018 AAO Annual Session in Washington, D.C. As
my replacement, the Foundation has selected Lili
Horton, whose initial two-year term of service
will begin at that time. Also, the directors recently
selected Mark Rashidi to serve an initial two-year
term as the new Vanguard Society chair, effective
at that same time. Please visit the Vanguard Society web page for details.
Search Committee Update
A search committee tasked with finding a new
AAOF Executive Vice President (to replace Mr.
Hazel, who is retiring) provided a progress report
to the Foundation Board at the February meeting. To the extent possible, the Foundation Search
Committee has coordinated its efforts with
those of the AAO Search Committee, with Lynne
Thomas Gordon, CAE, having been selected by
the AAO Board of Trustees as the new AAO Executive Director.
Awards Program
The proposal deadline for the 2018 Awards Program was Friday, December 15, 2017. A total of 45
proposals were received in the following funding
categories: Biomedical Research Awards, Orthodontic Faculty Development Fellowship Awards,
Center Awards, and Research Aid Awards.
Please Remember the AAO Foundation in Your
Estate Plans
If you have not already included the AAOF in your
estate plans, please complete and return the Keystone Society form to become an AAOF Keystone.
The future of our specialty is in our hands.
The Planning and Awards Review Committee, or
PARC reviewed these proposals and met in late
January to make their funding recommendations
to the AAOF Board of Directors, which met in late
February to make the final determinations.
Thirteen of the 45 proposals came from the PCSO.
