Dr. Karthikeyan Subramani is currently serving as
a full-time faculty member at the Roseman University of Health Sciences in Henderson, NV. Born
and raised in India, Dr. Subramani received his
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 2002
from the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University, the
second-largest premier medical institution in
India. After his dental education, Dr. Subramani
studied in the United Kingdom, earning a Master
of Science degree in Biomedical Nanotechnology
(MSc) from the University of Newcastle upon
Tyne in 2004.
In 2006, Dr. Subramani was the recipient of the
prestigious Andre Schroeder Research Prize from
Straumann (Switzerland) in recognition of his
innovative research findings during his Master's
degree program. His research project explored
the applications of polyethylene glycol hydrogel
micro-patterns as a carrier for osteoinductive
growth factors, and their influence on osteoblast
activity for guided bone regeneration in orthopedic and dental implants. From 2007 to 2011,
Dr. Subramani was involved in the International
Team for Implantology's (ITI) funded research
projects in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the
United States. In pursuit of orthodontic education and to fulfill his desire to become orthodontic faculty, Dr. Subramani joined the Craniofacial
Biology fellowship program at the University of
Kentucky in Lexington in 2011. He was accepted to
the graduate orthodontic residency program at
the same institution in 2012 and graduated with
a Master of Science (MS) and Certificate in Orthodontics in 2015. During his orthodontic education
at the University of Kentucky, he was involved in
the American Association of Orthodontics Foundation's (AAOF) funded research project through
the Research Aid Award (RAA) that explored the
applications of functionalized carbon nanotubes
and their influence on osteoblast activity. Having
been exposed to critical thinking and various
orthodontic treatment philosophies from the

esteemed faculty at the University of Kentucky,
Dr. Subramani feels extremely thankful and privileged for his orthodontic education.
To fulfill his desire to become an orthodontic
educator, and to share the knowledge he gained
during his orthodontic residency program, in 2015
Dr. Subramani joined the Advanced Education in
Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics/Masters in Business Administration (AEODO/MBA)
residency program at the Roseman University of
Health Sciences as a full-time faculty member. Dr.
Subramani mentors residents on research, conducts didactic courses, and supervises patient
treatment in the clinic. He has been recently
appointed the research block director. In this role
he oversees and coordinates resident and faculty
research activity. In addition, Dr. Subramani has
actively participated in the faculty senate committee and the annual Roseman University
Research Symposium planning committee. Following his completion of the American Board of
Orthodontics (ABO) written exam, Dr. Subramani
has banked a few cases from his residency program and is currently working to become boardcertified in the near future. His research interests
include nanotechnology, orthodontic biomaterials, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), and
practice management-related projects. Dr. Subramani was the recipient of the 2016 Robert M.
Ricketts Sunflower Orthodontics Fellowship
Award from the AAOF.
In addition to his involvement in clinical activities,
Dr. Subramani has authored numerous peerreviewed original research manuscripts and book
chapters. He has edited and published two books
with Elsevier: Emerging Nanotechnologies in
Dentistry (with a foreword by Nobel Laureate
Sir Harold W Kroto) (2011), and Nanobiomaterials
in Clinical Dentistry (2012). Dr. Subramani is currently a member of various editorial boards for
nanotechnology, implantology, and orthodontic
