 Be the consultant: teach others and make

Increasing Referrals for Your Practice

 Get involved in community outreach events.
Give back to the community.
 Give referring dental offices something they
can use, such as flu shots, CPR training, etc.
 Internal marketing (referrals from patients
and staff) is most cost effective.

Administrative Staff

 Train staff in proactive verbal skills so they can
educate the community about orthodontics.
 Give rewards to staff and patients for new
patient referrals.
 Let parents of patients know that you have
treatment options available for them as well
and teach your staff to advocate for this.
 Utilize your practice's website, and make sure
it is up-to-date.
 Ask for Facebook, Google, and Yelp reviews.
Ask patients to Snapchat their orthodontic
experience.
 Take new patient calls seriously. Have a person
in your office with the right expertise to
answer the call. Scripting is important: get
what you need.
 Teach your staff how to be confident and sell
the case. Teach them not to fear defeat or
rejection.
 OrthoFi: Take advantage of this streamlining
software to sell your treatment plan.
 Same-day starts: In morning huddles, ask if
staff/doctors are willing to stay through lunch
or other hours for same-day starts and plan
accordingly.
 Synergy: your success is linked to the success
of your whole team.
 Communication: Utilize radio headsets, messaging, morning huddles, and staff retreats.
Educate your staff via in-office training or outside educational training. Communication
and education are key.
 Communicate to your staff the goals for the
day and empower them to achieve those
goals.
 Attitude drives the culture in your office.
Choose the right attitude every day. 
