Special Section Case Report RETENTION with a Biostar machine, and the inner bow of the Facebow was bonded to the splint with cold-cure acrylic. The patient used an occipital strap and Whale elastics, wearing the appliance afternoons, evenings, and nights. The ramp helped retain the corrected overjet. The patient continued with night wear throughout the transition from mixed to permanent dentition. At this stage, a Phase 2 is planned; the family continues to reject orthognathic surgery. After 13 months, minimum overjet was achieved and a maxillary retainer with an anterior bite ramp was delivered; this was to be worn at night.
