We hope everyone is well. The Nevada
State Orthodontic Society will be
conducting elections for leadership
positions in the Spring of 2022 via
Zoom. Please watch your inbox for further details.
We are all ecstatic to get back to in-person meetings
and will conduct an in-person meeting during
the component breakfast (Friday morning, October
28th) at the Fall WOCON meeting in San Diego. Mark
your calendars to attend! We are also planning on a
component breakfast meeting at the AAO mid-winter
meeting in Las Vegas (January 27-29, 2023).

Oregon
We are excited to welcome Dr. Traci
Saito and Dr. Sara Edmondson to the
board of the Oregon State Society
of Orthodontists! We've had a busy
couple of months with hosting the annual meeting,
attending the AAO Leadership Development
Conference, and establishing more structure for our
organization.
Earlier this year, we listened to several concerns
regarding the Oregon Dental Conference's keynote
speaker and their potentially controversial view on
orthodontics. We relayed those concerns to our colleagues
at the Oregon Dental Association to advocate
for our members. Please let us know how we can
continue to serve you and address your concerns. Feel

Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan Society of
Orthodontists is working on plans
for the next annual meeting to take
place in either Regina or Saskatoon
for 2022. The Saskatchewan government has recently
announced a stepwise plan to remove all COVID
restrictions, while orthodontists are awaiting to hear
from the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan
as to whether any requirements will be made
from the College once provincial restrictions are fully
removed.

Washington
The annual meeting of the Washington
State Society of Orthodontists
(WSSO) that was originally planned
for January 21, 2022, was canceled
because of restrictions surrounding the COVID
Omicron variant surge. The new date is Friday, May 6,
2022. We are thrilled to retain our amazing speakers
for this year's annual meeting. Dr. Neal Kravitz will
present all-day lectures on orthodontic technique
and pearls that will benefit every orthodontist.
Similarly, the orthodontic team lecture will have
Michelle Shimmin lecture all day on how to develop
a high-performance team. Both lecture tracks will
be something every orthodontist and team will
want to participate in, and we invite our orthodontic
colleagues in neighboring components to join us.
Washington orthodontic clinic members will also
have the opportunity to be trained in how to safely
remove orthodontic appliances and adhesive by Dr.
Geoff Greenlee. Please check the WSSO website for
further details and registration.
WSSO has also been very active on the legislative
front. The WSSO applied for and received a grant from
the AAO to hire a lobbyist for the year to develop
important relationships with Washington State legislators.
The lobbyist will work in the interest of orthodontic
patients while representing Washington State orthodontists,
the WSSO, and AAO with members of the
Washington state legislators and their staff. Current
and past board members have also forged important
relationships with legislators that helped facilitate
the introduction of HB 1950 (essentially to protect
patients pursuing teledental treatments). The WSSO
