President's Report
President's Message
Greetings to all PCSO colleagues!
I hope this message finds you all happy, healthy, and
safe as we hopefully continue emerging from this
pandemic that has affected us all.

PCSO President 2021-2022
We recently just concluded our first in-person PCSO
continuing education meeting in Las Vegas. It was
great to see so many of our fellow orthodontists
and their teams face-to-face again. The 2019 Annual
Session in Honolulu was the last time we were all
together, which seems like ages ago. We are excited
to continue to provide relevant content to our PCSO
member orthodontists and their teams.
At our Spring 2022 meeting in Las Vegas, the Ritz
Carlton Leadership Institute provided us with training
on not only how to provide a Ritz Carlton-esque
experience to our patients, but in an extremely timely
manner, they taught us about the Ritz Carlton hiring
and training process. A statistic that impressed me is
that in the hospitality business (hotels, etc.) the average
annual turnover of front-line employees across
all hotel brands is 80%. The Ritz Carlton brand has an
annual turnover in the low 20%.
Many of us are having trouble in attracting and retaining
team members. I left this meeting with practical
ideas and procedures to implement in my practice
to help reduce turnover on my team. As part of an
effort to benefit our membership, the PCSO Board
has created a task force to make recommendations
for action to help our members navigate the current
hiring challenges.
Our PCSO Delegation is also looking after our service
member orthodontists. Currently, service members
have no constituent organization (like PCSO) or
component organization (like your state or provincial
association) to which they belong. PCSO is pushing to
help our service member orthodontists have home
organizations to which they belong with continuing
education meetings they can attend.
Mark your office calendars for October 27-30 for our
2022 Annual Session in sunny San Diego. This will be
a world-class meeting for doctors, the clinical teams,
and the administrative teams of our offices. The
speakers will be amazing, the topics will be timely,
and the venues for the meeting will be fantastic.
Our closing party by Petco Field will be unforgettable.
Don't miss this opportunity to join our PCSO
and RMSO colleagues for an excellent educational
experience.
