BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz Welcomes
New Board Member
J

osué Saldivar, the newest member of the BPFNA Board of
Directors, was elected as the TYAYA (youth and young adult)
representative during the Summer Conference this year in
Cheney, PA. Josué is an activist and a DACA (Deferred Action
for Childhood Arrivals) recipient.
He was born in Agua Prieta, in the Mexican state of Sonora,
and currently lives in Tucson, AZ. He graduated with a Business
Associate's degree from Pima Community College in Tucson.
He plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree at the University of New
Mexico in Albuquerque.
Josué started his activism back in 2009 with the Tucsonbased ScholarshipsA-Z, whose work focuses on providing
resources to students, parents and educators, in the effort to make
higher education accessible to all students-regardless of their
immigration status.
In 2014, he became part of Mariposas Sin Fronteras, a
group that focuses on providing resources and support to LgBTQ
detainees during and after immigration detention. Through his
experiences in Tucson, Josué finds that his activism keeps changing
as progress and new obstacles keep emerging in his community. He
has attended several BPFNA Summer Conferences (aka "Peace

Camp") and was elected Prom King at the annual "Prom for All"
at Peace Camp 2015 in Harrisonburg, VA. n
