such critical information right in the pilot's view in all
conditions and phases of flight, making flying safer.
Those safety enhancements include during takeoff,
when pilots can watch both the runway and their
airplane's acceleration, plus smoother hand-flying in
visual conditions, with attitude and altitude information
right out in front of the pilot. In-flight loss of control,
a longtime safety problem among general aviation
operators, also can be minimized by aligning critical
flight information with the outside view, the company
said, enhancing situational awareness and minimizing
the risks of inadvertently entering instrument
conditions while flying visually.
The SkyDisplay HUD consists of two components,
the 1-pound display itself and a remote-mounted
display processor. It requires a primary flight display
("glass panel") and input from its air data, attitude and
heading reference system. The HUD itself is a liquidcrystal display with light-emitting diode backlighting
offering 480-by-240 resolution, plus automatic
or manual brightness control. The unit's power
requirements range from 12-28 VDC; custom mounting
and cockpit fitments are available.

The CTL45D allows both the pilot and co-pilot
to use a single unit for their audio control needs.
According to Greg Ledbetter, PS Engineering's
product line manager, it's a result of listening to the
company's customers. "We had many conversations
with industry leaders and system users, in shops,
completion centers and at trade shows," he said. "We
asked them what we should do next. The consensus
was unanimous; they needed a dual control head.
Now PS Engineering has what they need."
As a dual control head, the CTL45D can be
configured with the pilot on the left or right side of the
aircraft. The unit's front panel nomenclature is fully
customizable, lending itself to the specific mission's
avionics needs. The audio control hub can be attached
to the panel unit or remotely mounted, ensuring there
is one central location for audio connections and that
they do not need to be routed around the aircraft,
greatly simplifying installation.
The PAC45 itself is a full-featured special-mission
audio control panel featuring MultiTalker, a licensed
and patented (by the USAF's Wright Patterson
Laboratory) audio processing algorithm that presents
mission-critical audio in different apparent locations
around the flight crew's headsets, enabling them to
more-easily distinguish simultaneous conversations
and reducing cockpit workload.

PS Engineering
PS Engineering got its start in 1985, applying digital
circuitry to a product category - aircraft audio control
panels - that had not yet seen the technology in
widespread use. Since then, the company's products
have become market leaders, with name-brand
avionics manufacturers marketing its audio panels
under their own label. For 2020, PS Engineering is

Shadin Avionics
New from Shadin Avionics is the Volta data
converter platform, which the company said is a
software-free complement to its Avionics Interface
System Configurable Converter Platform products. The
Volta-60 Discrete-to-ARINC 429 converter (V60) is

introducing the CTL45D, a dual control head designed
to work with the company's PAC45 line of specialmission-oriented audio controllers.

Shadin Avionics
announced its new Volta
Series data converter platform.
