Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp.
Since 2009, AEM has been designing, manufacturing and
certifying communication equipment for a broad range of
aircraft, and also offers those same services to
emerging companies that need a quick
go-to-market solution for electronics
of their own design.
Operating from a year-old
35,000-square-foot
facility in Kelowna, British
Columbia, AEM provides
industry-leading specialmission
audio systems
and complementary
accessories, for use by
push-button switches
were introduced in the
1970s and upgraded
in 1996 to incorporate
LED lighting technology
and was soon
joined in the company's
product line by
DCU120
the NEXSYS modular switching line of components. In 2015,
the company changed its name to Applied Avionics.
At the AEA Convention, the company announced NEXSYS
MTR138-000GNW
multiple high-profile operators in a variety of mission profiles.
New for 2023 is a remote-mounted radio for special-role
and multimission platforms alike, the MTR138-000GNW,
which AEM said is a replacement for certain legacy VHF
NTX-series radios but includes integration capability with
glass-cockpit applications. The new MTR138-000GNW
features a 10-watt main transceiver paired with a synthesized
guard receiver, featuring the most up-to-date advancements
in analog radio technology, all in a lightweight, compact and
economic package.
" This flexible radio fills a void in the market and is easily
integrated for tactical roles, upgrades or obsolescence management, "
said Tony Weller, AEM's director of sales and marketing,
on the new product's announcement. " We worked in
consultation with emergency response agencies and aircraft
manufacturers to ensure the radio would be compatible with
legacy installations and provide a modern solution for current
and future integrations. "
The MTR138-000GNW is a 138 to 174 megahertz FM
VHF remote-mount transceiver with 128 channels, including
two programmable synthesized guard receiver channels.
It provides sub-audible signaling, continuous tone-coded
squelch system and continuous digital coded squelch system
capability, with standard and extended tone encoding and decoding.
The transceiver control is handled through an RS-422
interface bus and discrete signals.
The MTR138-000GNW is available for immediate order.

Applied Avionics
The Applied Avionics origination story dates back to 1968,
when its earlier incarnation, Aerospace Optics, began producing
custom edge-lighted panels, knobs and annunciators
for aerospace applications. Its popular VIVISUN illuminated
LYNK, represented by the first product in the new line, the
DCU120, a highly configurable integrated signal processor
based on a wide range of inputs and outputs, and applicationspecific
configurations.
Speaking to the assembled avionics technicians and shop
managers, the company's Joseph Stiffler said, " For over
50 years, you've allowed us to provide the VIVISUN lighted
push-button switches and the NEXSYS solid-state devices.
Today, I'm pleased to announce that we've advanced technology,
and we are embedding signal processors into the form
factors that we already provide.
" We anticipate several iterations of the NEXSYS LYNK,
but the first launch is an integrated signal processor with a
straightforward goal. The goal is to simplify the design and
interface of some of the most complex aircraft signal processing
applications in the smallest form factor possible. But we're
doing this without sacrificing the durability and pedigree for
aircraft certification. "
Connectivity built into the DCU120 includes an ARINC 429
transceiver (two buses in/one bus out), an RS232 transceiver,
discrete inputs and outputs, analog inputs and an internal
health monitor output. The number of discrete inputs and
outputs varies by form factor and configuration specifics.

Archangel Systems
" We're a new member this year, "
Dan Reida, director of sales for
Archangel Systems, told attendees
at the 2023 AEA
Convention, " so I thought it'd
be a good idea to tell you a
little bit about the company.
We've been around about 30
years, headquartered in Auburn
(Alabama), AS9100-approved; we have
