" We're very much focused on AHARS, attitude and heading
reference systems, both with and without air data capability.
We have our ADAHRS, the AHR150A ... Our AHR75
is the AHRS just minus the air-data capability. We also do
some data converters, the ASI product line.
" The issue I want to talk about today is one that many of
you are aware of - we have a lot of legacy, analog, gyros
and even some early-generation AHRS out there. Operating
costs are rising, repairs are rising, the availability of parts is
declining, so lower MTBFs, lower dispatch reliability for the
aircraft. "
Archangel has a solution for that, the AFC001, which
incorporates analog-to-digital conversion capability and
" bridges the gap between an ADAHRS and existing equipment
to enable automatic flight control, " the company said.
Features of the AFC001 include certification aboard Part 23,
25, 27 and 29 aircraft, roll and pitch limits of 450 degrees/
second, plus a 250-degree/second yaw rate limit, and an air
data limit of 55,000 feet and 850 indicated knots. Mil Spec
38999 filtered connectors and a footprint that matches a
standard flux gate simplify the installation.

Aspen Avionics
Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Aspen Avionics specializes
in bringing advanced display and sensor technology
from the commercial and business aviation markets into general
aviation cockpits and budgets. At the AEA Convention,
the company announced FAA approval of its latest operating
system software, which was updated to ensure compatibility
with some of the industry's latest digital autopilots.
The new software, version 2.12, enables enhanced integration
of Garmin's GFC 600 digital autopilot with Aspen's
EFD1000 Pro MAX Primary Flight Display. It also adds
selected-altitude support for autopilots from Trio Avionics
and the BendixKing AeroCruze 100, plus extended runway
centerlines on the MFD500/1000 MAX multifunction displays.
Additionally, with the new software release, the Evolution E5
Dual Electronic Flight Instrument is now a TSO'd electronic
flight instrument system.

When an Aspen Pro MAX display's software is upgraded
to version 2.12, the GFC 600 interface goes beyond basic
autopilot output functions, including IAS-hold mode, and
implements the GFC 600's electronic stability and protection
capability with no external analog-to-digital converter
required. Additionally, altitude, airspeed and vertical speed
preselect targets can be set on the Aspen display.

Avidyne
The biggest news from Avidyne for 2023 is its partnership
with Innovative Solutions & Support of Exton, Pennsylvania,
on their new Helix integrated flight deck for turbine helicopters.
The package combines IS&S's 10.4-inch flat-panel
displays with Avidyne's Helios flight management systems
" to deliver significant new capabilities for operators looking to
modernize their otherwise highly capable legacy helicopters, "
the company said. Features the Helix conversion include
are the large-format flat-panel displays, 3D synthetic vision,
electronic charts, ADS-B weather and traffic, and SBAS/LPV
