about their priorities for the farm bill and reiterated their continuing support of an available
and affordable crop insurance program for their
members.
The Ag Economist Panel focus was on the
farm economy and the importance of the farm
bill safety net to help stabilize the agriculture
industry. Panelists included: Nathan Kauffman,
Rep. Conaway addressing the attendees at the
convention.
Progressive Ag Safety Days
Each year during the Annual Convention, AACI and NCIS selects a
charitable organization involved in agriculture to highlight and encourages
attendees to support financially through donations made during the
convention. This year's charity was Progressive Ag Safety Day.
According to the National Children's Center for Rural and Agricultural
Health and Safety, every three days a child dies in the United States due to
agriculture-related incidents. Keeping safety at the forefront is the key to
avoiding incidents on the farms. Safety Days help young people differentiate
between the farmstead and the playground, as well as help parents identify
age appropriate tasks and farm chores for their children. The Progressive
Agriculture foundation has provided lifesaving lessons and safety related
information to 1.6 million children and adults.
The industry raised $4900 for Progressive Ag Safety Days during the
