CONCEPT OF IDEAL PBW TVC
SYSTEM
Based on the study above, the three
most important performance indexes
for a PBW TVC system are control
performance, efficiency, and reliability. However, in most cases, these
indexes are contradictory and the
system that can satisfy three indexes
simultaneously does not exist. Therefore, an ideal PBW TVC system
ought to be a system that can achieve
the best balance of control performance, efficiency, and reliability.

A NEW PBW TVC SYSTEM BASED
ON LOAD SENSING PRINCIPLE
The main problems of a valve control
PBW system are low efficiency and
reliability. According to (1)-(4), it is
easy to find that the main energy loss
in the system is the throttle loss of
the servo valve. If the system pressure ps can be changed with the load
pressure pLoad to keep the pressure
difference Δp between the input and
output ports of the servo valve to a
fixed small value, the throttle loss
can be reduced significantly and the
hydraulic efficiency can be improved
greatly.
Therefore, a new PBW TVC system based on load sensing theory as
shown in Figure 3 is proposed. The
working principle of load sensing
theory is to keep the ps is Δp higher
than pLoad by adjusting the output displacement of the variable displacement pump [12], [13]. The structure
of the new system is very close to the
typical valve control system, except
that the constant pressure variable
displacement pump is replaced by a
load sensing pump. The Δp is set by
adjusting the precompression value
of the pressure control valve in the
pump. And a shuttle value is used
to sense the load pressure. When ps
is less than the sum of pLoad and Δp,
the actuator in the pump will be controlled to increase the output flow of
pump, and the output pressure will
increase immediately and vice versa.
