3G speeds? Given everything else
Gogo seems to have thought of, it
shouldn't surprise that faster service
is in the offing.
In October, Gogo announced it will
be upgrading its existing terrestrial
network serving the U.S., Alaska
and Canada with what it calls "Gogo
Biz 4G." Available in early 2017, the
company's faster 4G service "represents
a significant increase in capability
when compared to existing solutions,"
according to the company. In addition
to the existing Gogo Biz services, users
should see reliable 4G performance,
including the ability to stream video
and audio, the company said.
Gogo added that its forthcoming
4G service was "created specifically
for the business aviation market"
using the company's latest air-toground technology. The Gogo Biz 4G
equipment package will incorporate
dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi
capabilities plus other features into
a single box. A loyalty program with
significant trade-in incentives will be
available to current Gogo customers
wishing to upgrade to Gogo Biz 4G
when the new service is available.
"We cracked the code on in-flight
connectivity many years ago, and
we're excited to continue offering
more and more performance to
customers," Wade said. "Gogo
Biz 4G leverages Gogo's proven
air-to-ground network and
technology that has already flown
hundreds of thousands of hours
aboard thousands of business and
commercial aircraft."
