Getting to Know You
As we approach our 69th Annual Convention, we thought it only appropriate that we
acknowledge the special people on hand at each convention who work hard alongside our
Headquarters Staff and the countless volunteers, to make each convention a smooth success.

Matt Haynes, Technical Support

att comes to UFDC extremely qualiﬁed. During
convention, you can ﬁnd him running here and
there donning his technical backpack. He is a hero to
presenters of audio/video programs. Since 2001 Matt has
been an independent software consultant working with
non-proﬁt organizations to help them maximize their
usage of their donor management software. In 2007, Matt
formed "Haynes Consulting Group, LLC," with a mission
to be the leader in affordable "Raisers Edge" solutions.

nyone who meets Ray is assured of meeting one
the most warm and congenial members of UFDC.
This year, Ray celebrates his 35th year of working with
a hard-working crew of UFDC volunteers who are
dedicated to making the Annual UFDC Convention a
big success. Ray and the crew start their convention
work when the ﬁfty-three-foot tractor-trailer arrives
and ends his job after the Gala Banquet. During
convention, the crew staff members help with
Hospitality, Audio-Visual, Souvenir Distribution, Event
Roster Distribution, Logistics, Room Set-Up, Helper
Drawing and Security Supervision. Ray worked for
thirty-six years for IBM's Research Division, designing
and supervising a group that built special apparatus
for IBM scientists. Ray enjoys gardening, doing home
projects, repairing vintage dolls and toys, his family,

grandchildren and the family cat, "Ginger." Ray and
his wife are founding members of the Hudson Valley
Doll Club in, currently its forty-second year.

Karen Lintala, Convention Souvenir
Management

aren has worked with the UFDC Convention
crew for over 30 years, managing the souvenirs
for all the ticketed events. Karen works together with
Kitty Tomisc. Their job entails receiving the souvenirs;
checking and bundling them for distribution; collecting
the leftover souvenirs, reconciling tickets and sending
items back to Kansas City for shipping. Living in Ohio
most of her life, Karen has worked in the technical ﬁeld
for over forty years, managing large computer systems
and its workforce. She started collecting dolls in 1976,
when her daughter was born, with Madame Alexander
eight-inch dolls in regional costumes. Her collection
includes vintage dolls of the 1950s, dolls she remembers
as a child, with a small collection of artist Heidi dolls,
the name of her daughter. Retired now, Karen loves to
travel to exotic, faraway places like the Arctic Ocean
above Norway and this year - Antarctica. Her goal is to
see most of the world. She stays busy with her church,
managing concert receptions every month, as well as
singing in the choir.
