Eventually, I contacted Miriam Burbidge, a close friend of Edith von Arps. She was so excited that I was interested in the BAPS dolls and their history that, besides providing a wealth of information, she sent me a couple of one-of-a-kind BAPS dolls. Miriam was in her nineties at the time and has since passed away. She answered the question everyone asks: "What does BAPS mean?" Edith von Arps and Hilde Bartel were close friends.
