Trochlil notes that associations may
also find it difficult to hire cybersecurity
professionals if they cannot offer a fulltime position. "Too often it becomes part
of someone else's job," he says. "They
might have a little training, but it's not
what their main focus is. It's becoming
harder and harder to find the one person
who can do it all. That's why, in a lot of
cases, it makes more sense to outsource."

Like many other risks facing an organization, cyberattacks can be very costly, but
there is insurance to help deal with some
of the aftermath of an attack.

to hear much about smaller data breaches,
but now we're hearing about schools, universities, public institutions, and municipal governments."
Guzman says he doesn't think the
frequency of cyberattacks is necessarily
increasing, noting that there are "probably data breaches every day." However,
people are becoming more aware of them
and more educated about them, he says.
Even so, cybersecurity itself is complicated and cyber liability can be an additional educational hurdle.
"Many associations know that they
want to look into cyber liability, but
they don't know what they need or what
they need to ask," he says. "We do a
lot of education, a lot of presentations
to boards. This really helps get people
