NVIDIA's Partner Program in Action
In a recent interview, NVIDIA's John Fanelli, product vice
president for NVIDIA GRID, and Olimpio DeMarco, director of
strategic alliances for manufacturing & architecture, engineering,
and construction (AEC), educated me on the multiple facets of the company, which generates nearly $7 billion in annual revenues. The leading
maker of graphics processing units (GPUs) for gaming is fast becoming a
multi-tentacled, multi-partnering entity through the evolution of artificial
intelligence (AI), deep learning, and super computing. It continues to expand into new applications and programs, such as self-driving cars and
brain tumor diagnosis technology. NVIDIA began investing in its Compute
Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) about 10 years ago. CUDA is a framework for creating applications and programs, typically for high-performance
computing CPUs, artificial intelligence, and deep learning.
DeMarco and Fanelli explained at length how NVIDIA orchestrates complex partnering. Fanelli talked about a recent venture that involved a
five-partner NVIDIA GRID ecosystem. "Honda was using the GRID solution to design cars that included Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE),
VMWare, Dassault Systemes, NVIDIA, and ANSYS," he explained.
The customer-centric alignment was driven in part by Honda's desire to use
