their trunk had been lost. After that,
Alicia searched for another source and
found one, but the little shoes were
never again as perfect as those once
made by George Bidegain.
After Alicia Larguia passed away,
the "Marilú" doll business no longer
continued. The family kept many
of the "Marilú" dolls, furniture and
accessories, but one tragic day there
was a big fire and they lost their home
and all the contents within it, including
all the precious pristine dolls in their
original boxes. Luckily Mashenka,
Alicia's great granddaughter and
granddaughter of the girl, Marilú,
Maria Luisa, had kept two boxes of
new Marilú magazines, which she says
she treasures dearly. She mentions
in her statement in the "Juguetes
del Tiempo" blog that "Muna," as
Alicia was known to close friends and
relatives, was a great person in every
way. It makes her very happy knowing
that many people remember their own
childhood linked to the "Marilú" doll
and many others are still collecting
them with much appreciation.
Maria Luisa passed away in 2002, at
the age of 80; no record has been found
of Alicia's death.

Many many thanks for the beautiful dolly and furniture. They are
just the most beautiful clothes and
doll furniture I have ever owned. I carry them from room to room
with me and bebe Marilú
everywhere I go, her clothes are so pretty and I love everything you
sent. Some day I am in hope to
come to South America and see you and the Marilú shop. I have 154
dolls with Marilú but I love her
the best of all, she is so different from all my others, her shoes
are so cute and her little socks and her boots and everything she
has. I like the sheet on the bed and the bed spread, you have just
made me
very happy and I love you and I hope some day I will see you. I
hope you can read my writing
alright for I can't write so well- but again I thank you and good bye.
