COLL ABORATIVE BUZZ takes only 18 minutes to complete when run on the new IBM system. In the past, the analysis has taken some 30 hours. "As more leading medical centers, clinical labs, and research institutions work on genomic medicine, rapid and accurate analysis of next-generation sequencing data is critical," said Sumit Gupta, vice president, high-performance computing and analytics at IBM Power Systems. "Providing DRAGEN on IBM Power Systems," added Pieter van Rooyen, chief executive officer of Edico Genome, provides "both existing IBM customers and additional hospitals and academic centers seeking to build a genomics infrastructure [with] a rapid, accurate and easily integrated analysis solution. In addition, our new offering, Accelerated GATK, enables genomic researchers to access a comprehensive toolkit of algorithms in one spot, further streamlining their biomedical research activities." A newly formed Renewable Energy Buyer's Alliance (REBA) http://rebuyers.org/ is helping companies trade in silos for collaborative storehouses. REBA works with more than 60 iconic, multinational companies that demonstrate significant demand for renewable power, such as Dow Chemical, which ia an ASAP individual member and received the 2015 ASAP Corporate Responsibility Award with The Nature Conservancy for their sustainability model. The alliance leverages expertise for corporations with the goal of helping them purchase 60 gigawatts of additional renewable energy in the United States by 2025. "Having corporations do this is a great way to contribute to larger goals, such as the Paris Agreement," says Kelly Gallo, manager at BSR (Business for Social Responsibility), a REBA network member. Launched recently at a summit hosted by Microsoft and attended by more than 300 participants, REBA is comprised of four NGOs with separate initiatives and similar missions. For example, BSR's Future of Internet Power initiative http://www. bsr.org/en/collaboration/groups/ future-of-internet-power specializes in increasing companies' use of renewable energy to power data centers through collaboration with power providers, utilities, and policymakers. The working group is currently comprised of 10 influential technology companies and has a shared vision of powering the Internet with 100 percent renewable energy. The World Wildlife Federation and World Resources Institute founded the Renewable Energy Buyer's Principles http:// buyersprinciples.org, which are representative of corporate buyer demands for energy needs in the market. Over 50 companies have signed onto the principles. Rocky Mountain Institute's Business Renewables Center http://www. businessrenewables.org/ assists companies with transactions and renewable energy strategies. As a member-based platform, BRC connects corporate buyers and developers with renewable energy 13 SUMMER * 2016 | STRATEGIC ALLIANCE MAGAZINE http://www.bsr.org/en/collaboration/groups/future-of-internet-power http://www.bsr.org/en/collaboration/groups/future-of-internet-power http://www.bsr.org/en/collaboration/groups/future-of-internet-power http://www.rebuyers.org/ http://buyersprinciples.org http://buyersprinciples.org http://www.businessrenewables.org/ http://www.businessrenewables.org/
