oulogne-sur-Mer is located in
Northern France, at the edge
of the Channel. This coastal area offers
important tourist sites such as Cap Gris
Nez and Blanc Nez of great natural beauty
and attractive seaside resorts with beautiful
sandy beaches like Hardelot, Le Touquet,
and Wimereux. These sites were of great
popularity among travelers 19th century
and into the 20th. It was fashionable for
tourists to purchase souvenirs such as
dolls in regional costumes as mementos or
gifts for family back home. These dolls are
snapshots of those who live in other areas
of our world. Dolls in regional costumes can
teach us a great deal.
