(Toys and Novelties September 1928.) It seems that The American Character Company dressed their "Campbell Kids" as girls only. They advertised those girls in illustrated full page ads together with their "Puggy." A pair of "Campbell Kid" and "Puggy" were offered dressed as Spanish girl and matador. One wonders if this pairing had something to do with the Effanbee Company's popular "Skippy" who was featured by Effanbee as the boy friend of their ever popular "Patsy" dolls. Almost twenty years later, in 1947, the Horsman Company introduced another "Campbell Kid." The doll was not marked but an accompanying cardboard tag stated "... Permission of Campbell Soup Company." The March 1947 issue of Toys and Novelties carried a full-page, well-illustrated ad that stated: "The Campbell's Kids, familiar to every American child and adult through being featured for 40 years in Campbell Soup advertising, have been reproduced with all their charm and whimsy by Horsman.
