Oriental girl from the
Canobbio-Trentin Collection

On December 17, 2008, Sherry Minton wrote a web article in
her column "Speaking of Dolls" on antiquetrader.com devoted to
"The Mysterious Burgarella." She mentions the existence of exotic
dolls made by this firm without showing any photo. I was lucky
to discover a couple of those rare playthings in Italian private
collections. For your enjoyment, here are their photos.
When visiting the headquarters in Kansas City, even though no
Burgarella doll is presently featured in the museum's collections, I
suggest you make an appointment in order to be shown this original
rare catalog. It is worth the effort of planning this experience ahead
of time. Hopefully, in future competitions, the right category where
Burgarella dolls would fit in could be considered, so that we would
all have an opportunity to admire some of these elusive dolls that I'm
sure are quietly kept in some (many?) of our members collections.
